I've had plenty of experience installing screen protectors on my phones, and installing it on the Touch 5 was pretty much the same. The Splash protector was easy to apply and I had no difficulty getting it on correctly on my first attempt.

I think the key to successfully installing a screen protector is to keep the protector close to the screen during the installation process so that dust cannot be attracted between the protector and the screen. I kept it very close to the screen as I removed Tab 1 and that worked great. Also before resting it down on the screen, make sure that both openings, home button and camera opening, are aligned (aligning one doesn't necessarily mean that the other is aligned by itself).
