I bought this to replace my iPod touch that I've had for a few years now. This is my first nano, so I can't comment on how different it is from the older versions, but as a previous touch owner, I can comment on how it differs from the touches. OBVIOUSLY, you're not gonna be able to do 90% of what you can do on a touch. If you want all that stuff, then maybe you should buy an iPod Touch. It's pretty much just for music (mp3s, radio, podcasts) and nothing more. And that's why I bought it, as a portable music player.
The size can be both a pro and a con: Good that it's very portable and fits anywhere (the little tape slot in my dashboard, my jeans pocket, etc) at the same time, the size of it enables it to get lost a lot and wedged into places where its hard to reach (between driver's seat and console..) so I always keep it with the headphones because its a little harder to lose it that way. I love how you can customize the home screen to have 4 tiny icon, or just one 1 that fits the whole screen. The volume buttons on the size are very handy. I also like that you don't have to 'Swipe to Unlock' with this, unlike my old touch. Makes it easier when I'm trying to change songs while driving....Also am a big fan of the clip, makes loosing it harder. I can clip it on the shoulder strap of my book bag. The inside of a coat, etc. Only complaint would be the clip doesn't allow you to get a full body case for it to protect it, and I would like some type of searching for music...as it gets tedious scrolling through 2000+ songs.... :| But over all, I am VERY happy with this. Nice job again Apple!!! If you're looking for solely a music player that's very cute and stylish, get this. If you're looking for a music player + other features, keep looking.
